      Welcome to the York Model United Nations 2011 Conference website. We are an organization that provides students with the opportunity to come together and express their interest in international affairs and world issues. Delegates get to experience an academic forum that not only involves debate, but gives one a chance to find new life-long friendships, meet new and interesting people, but most importantly a chance to develop a greater understanding of the world around us.

      This year’s York Model United Nations is for all types of students. Whether you are a novice or an experienced delegate, this conference promises to challenge and enlighten you. In the following days, you will experience what it means to be a diplomat, understanding the intricacies of multilateral negotiations and international relations.

      YMUN strives to bring about new dynamics and accommodate innovative solutions. We are very excited to be collaborating with York University’s Model NATO and the Centre for Human Rights. As such, we have the utmost confidence that this year’s conference shall prove to be the best.

       We always strive to give delegates the best experience at our conference. As such, we have created a special four-way Simulated International Crisis project (the SIC project). Time-sensitive responses and critical thinking are crucial to decision making for global leaders. It is comprised of four committees which simulate a given country’s executive cabinet whose primary goal is to draft courses of action, debate their merits, and implement decisions which attempt to resolve the international crises. What sets this crisis apart is the investment we are putting into technology in order to give a faster and more interactive way of participating in this four-way crisis simulation. Sic will be a crisis experience that you will remember.

      Every year, our conference gathers more schools and more students to participate in a highly innovative form of simulation. In fact, this past year, we had more delegates attend our conference than ever before. Our conference has always been able to offer a fresh perspective on international issues and will only continue to offer a greater experience for those who attend our conference this year.
